Wounds Heal – Scars Remain

Wounds heal - scars remain

I have a permanent scar on my upper wrist. It came as the result of not paying adequate attention while removing a hot pan from the oven. For weeks there was a wound that carried with it great pain. The scar is years old now, but it remains. I see it as a reminder – Since that day I have always used due caution when working at or near a stove. We can recover from wounds in life, but sometimes there will be scars left behind. Hopefully, we will use the scars to remind us of the time of injury, an impetus to never revisit that set of circumstances again. Abuse is often like that – we have to let the past be the past, allow the wounds to heal and use the scars to remind us we do not ever have to go back again.

Let them make us stronger.
