Pet Abuse: Red Flag for Domestic Violence?

Little Horatio - victim of domestic violence?

This will be a short post, folks. I want to bring this to the attention of the public, to the forefront. Advocates can confirm with statistics that if an abuser kills, does bodily harm, or even threatens to do so to a family pet, it is likely you are in line to become a victim of abuse/violence. Many children beg Mommy to stay because they don’t want to leave the family pet, and few shelters are equipped to take them. So, like I did, you go back inside the house, hold the pup close and live in fear for the next time his life is threatened. It is a weapon of manipulation and control. But, one day you break free.

Please read this short article. This legislator is not off the mark. We need to extend the law to encompass all forms of domestic violence. What’cha think?
