DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS

The Trial is Over—Can We Get Back to Helping Victims?

Carolyn & Her 4-Footed Friend

I am absolutely astonished at the number of hits on my blog driven by search terms regarding Casey Anthony. It has been mind-boggling. I jumped aboard that train and rode it because of the accusations of molestation, domestic violence/abuse and well, like everyone else, just trying to get some answers and make some sense of it all. I don’t know that we will ever get the answers we are looking for. During this time, I spent far too little time posting blogs on what matters to me most—domestic/sexual violence, mental and emotional abuse and child abuse. I’ve missed taking time to pursue my passion, speak out for more awareness on these issues and extend a helping hand to victims and struggling survivors. I am quite certain that while the rest of the world was engulfed in the storms of the Anthony trial, victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, verbal and emotional abuse and yes, even molestation, were continuing their fights to simply stay alive, or at least retain just a miniscule measure of hope. You see, national or worldwide news most likely had little if any affect on victims who were (and continue to be) abused, battered or assaulted. Their life as a victim just kept right on going—unchanged.

So, to all my fellow survivors, to all the victims who are cloaked in abuse and/or violence, we will be getting back to the key points this blog addresses. It may not measure up to the number of hits the Casey Anthony trial drew, but then, for me, it’s not about the numbers and statistics—it’s about the lives being touched, encouraged and yes, saved.

Please, if you have any questions or if there is a specific topic you need addressed, I implore you, send them to me. You can leave a comment here, or if you seek a little more confidentiality, just go my website and contact me there. I assure you an answer will be sent back, and an article will be written. Answers will be found and posted. Nothing drives me more than the passion to let victims know I am here for you, spending as much of my waking life as possible to learn even more, and help educate others on how we can combat the victimization and if/when necessary, to find the boldness to extricate ourselves safely from the abuser.
