Thank You, Casey Anthony—Now We Move On!

Addressing staff at ABC Action News

This will be short and to the point. I am amazed at the surge in traffic to my site and blog post during the entire Casey Anthony trial. Only a day or two after her sentencing, the numbers plummeted back to normal. I found the topic timely and pertinent to the focus of my blog, considering the allegations bantered about regarding child abuse and molestation, not to mention the dysfunction and potential for domestic violence having taken place within the entire Anthony family. Casey Anthony’s notoriety drove numbers through the roof for many, especially Nancy Grace and HLN. Now Ms. Anthony is being told she may be required to return to Orlando to do more time—a year’s probation on check fraud charges.

But here’s the deal. I am dedicated with a firm and powerful passion to concentrate on spousal abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault and child molestation, and how we can bring more education and information to the forefront, working to combat such horrendous acts. The point is this: The short blonde is getting back to business as usual. There are still many out there who are walking around with broken bones, stitches, traumatized psyches and busted lips. There are missing children throughout our country, and many may be discovered floating in a river, like 11-year-old Celina Cass, or in the neighbor’s back yard, stuffed in a garbage bag after being buried alive, like 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford.

So, while the media is chasing after Casey Anthony, trying to ascertain her location and get “the scoop,” I’ll be here doing what I do, trying to touch lives and help victims or struggling survivors regain their hope, their faith and maybe even find a bit of empowerment. Who knows? Even a life or two might be saved.

Nope, my numbers won’t be what they were, but it’s not about graphs and pie charts anyway—now is it?
