Carolyn S. Hennecy is the author of
ORANGE BLOSSOM WISHES: Child Molested, Woman Abused─Her Victorious Journey to Freedom
In her memoirs Carolyn shares the lows and highs of her life, from the years of being molested as a little girl and teen to another 16+ years as a victim of spouse abuse and domestic violence, proceeding to convey how she became the woman she is today─a genuine and passionate source of information, inspiration and motivation.
In April 2010, Hennecy was selected as one of five women in the nation to represent Verizon as a VOICES member and domestic violence survivor at the Annual International Family Justice Center Alliance Conference. There, she participated as part of a panel discussing long-term support for domestic violence victims and survivors.
Currently she serves as a member of the Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay Speakers Bureau. Additionally, she has completed the FJC Gift of Presence Chaplaincy course, as well as the Nuts & Bolts 16-hour advocacy training program.
Hennecy’s story is featured on the 2011 ABC Action News primetime special, “Taking Action Against Domestic Violence.” This multiple Emmy award-winning campaign is available after 10/17/11 to those outside the viewing area via internet link or may be viewed on her website.
Preferring to be considered inspirational and spiritual without being religious, Carolyn interacts in secular and non-secular venues alike. Working as an advocate for abuse and domestic violence awareness, she is convinced victims desire more than endless lists of statistics. They are looking for a fellow traveler who can encourage them to believe there is a light at the end of their tunnel of darkness. She has assuredly “been there, done that.”
Because of sharing her own experiences and triumphs through writing, public speaking and appearances or interviews, Hennecy has become an acclaimed motivator to countless individuals. She is an active victim support and empowerment coach and pastoral counselor, available to victims and/or struggling survivors who may be dealing with past or present abuse. She also offers training to businesses, faith-based organizations, chaplain programs, etc., on the current trends of domestic violence and methods for providing victim/survivor support.
Carolyn has spoken at conferences, served as a guest speaker for charitable organizations and functions, and serves as a spokesperson for the American Heart Association. She facilitated a writer’s workshop for abuse/assault survivors in collaboration with The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, is a regular blogger for Everyday Health on the topics of Living With Heart Disease and Emotional Wellbeing, and generates a successful blog on her website regarding domestic/intimate partner violence, child abuse/ molestation and sexual assault.
Hennecy uses personal adversities, peppered with humor and southern flavor, to restore hope, faith and joy for others. With her innate ability to bring forth laughter and reflection simultaneously, she is known for her contagious outgoing personality and drive to encourage, inspire and incite others to excellence.

Carolyn…inspires me to grow, a woman who took a poor situation and watered it with Faith and Will power, planting good wishes for so many hurting people. Lepena Reid─ASK…A Survivors Keys www.asurvivorskey.vpweb.com
Her depth of experience is like pieces of gold that she has gathered from out of the ashes of her tragic life. Picking up these pieces, she now runs with them, carrying them to others that she meets along the way. Her wisdom and insight that she now exudes helps bring healing to others who have been in similar life circumstances. The only way that I could explain her style to someone that I have just met off the street, would be this… She is a dynamic heartfelt speaker seasoned with down home Southern charm. It is a wonderful thing you do for victims of domestic violence. Thank you so much for your donation of books to our client(s)…I wanted to see their reaction to the donation and I can honestly say our clients have thoroughly enjoyed reading “Orange Blossom Wishes.” Last year, over 548 individuals stayed in our shelters and over 7,000 individuals utilized our Outreach Programs, a major increase in clients for our agency. With the number of people we serve each day in our shelters, events like this one mean a lot to our agency and our clients. Words cannot express our gratitude to you. Our Board of Directors, staff and I cannot thank you enough. JLB, CEO, Abuse Counseling & Treatment
